February marks one of the busiest and most special times of year at Lower Clopton Farm Shop near Stratford-upon-Avon, as lambing season gets underway across the working farm. While much of the work happens quietly behind closed doors, families are being invited to step inside and experience the magic of Spring season for themselves at the farm’s annual Lambing Event which returns for two days in late February.

From early morning checks in the lambing sheds to careful monitoring throughout the day, lambing season is a round-the-clock job for the farm team. On Friday 20th February and Saturday 21st February, visitors will be able to enjoy a rare behind-the-scenes look at what life is really like on a working farm at this crucial time of year. When nature allows, guests may also be able to see lambs being born, as well as meet the farmer and learn first-hand what’s involved in caring for ewes and their newborn lambs.

The Lambing Event is designed to be both educational and memorable, combining hands-on learning with gentle, family-friendly experiences. ‘Meet and Bleet’ sessions give visitors the chance to get up close to some of the farm’s youngest residents, while countryside walks around the farm offer space to explore and enjoy the rural setting. Even when lambs aren’t arriving at that exact moment, there is always plenty happening, with staff on hand explaining the process and answering questions.

Lower Clopton Farm Shop’s lambing days are carefully planned to balance animal welfare with visitor access. This year, guests are asked to book a timed entry slot online for their chosen day, helping the farm manage numbers and keep things calm for the animals. Once on site, visitors can stay for as long as they wish until the farm closes at 4pm, allowing families to take the day at their own pace.

Richard Baldwyn owner of Lower Clopton Farm Shop and Cafe said; “Lambing is one of the most important and rewarding times of the year for us as farmers, and it’s also a time when the public become increasingly interested about what goes on behind the scenes at the farm. It’s always lovely to see families connect with farming in such a real way, and for children especially, it can be an experience they remember for years.”

The Lambing Event is suitable for animal lovers of all ages, with tickets priced at £6 per person. For safety reasons, pregnant women are not permitted to attend, and visitors are reminded that lambing is a natural process, meaning births cannot be guaranteed. Guests are asked to bring their email ticket confirmation with them on the day and ensure the correct number of tickets are booked for their whole party.
