A new ‘Boozy Book Club’ initiative in Alcester created to showcase independent and emerging authors has become a sellout success. The book club was scheduled to be hosted once a month at The Lounge at 26 on Alcester High Street.
Tickets for the event sold out in less than seven hours and event organisers had to schedule an additional date for 23rd March. The book club now has a long waiting list, and a third club is in the process of being set up for the venue.
The event hosted by book lover, Jessica Blyth-Sweetingham from local marketing company, Talking Tortoise, has already secured another venue in Southampton and her company have been flooded with interest from new venues and other authors who wish to be featured. During the inaugural book club, ticket holders received a free copy of local author John Crawshaw’s romance novel, The Swing.
‘’’Our first book club was an incredible success, and the feedback was phenomenal. Everybody praised the venue as being perfect for the event, John gave an incredible insight into his life as an author and ticket holders praised the initiative as a real community asset for Alcester.”
