Lower Clopton Farm Shop named 'Best Small Farm Shop in UK' at Farm Retail Association Awards

Lower Clopton Farm Shop near Stratford-upon-Avon has been named the Best Small Farm Shop in the UK at the 2026 Farm Retail Awards.

The popular farm shop, run by husband and wife team Richard and Suzie Baldwyn, received the award at a ceremony held during the annual Farm Retail Association Conference in Harrogate on Wednesday 11th March.

Located on the Baldwyn family’s working farm just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, Lower Clopton Farm Shop has built a strong reputation for offering a true field to fork experience. The farm rears its own beef, lamb, turkey and goose, with the meat then prepared and sold through the on-site butchery and served in the farm’s café.

The business has grown steadily in recent years while remaining firmly rooted in its family farming heritage. Visitors to the farm shop are able to see first-hand how food is produced, with a close connection between the working farm, the butchery counter and the café kitchen.

Organised by the Farm Retail Association, which represents around 300 members nationwide, the Farm Retail Awards celebrate excellence across the agricultural sector. The annual awards shine a spotlight on innovative and hard-working farm retailers who champion quality British produce and go the extra mile for their customers.

The awards recognise the best farm shops, cafés, restaurants, butcheries, farmers markets, pick your own operators and trade suppliers from across the industry.

This year’s ceremony was hosted by food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden at the Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate and formed part of the annual Farm Retail Association Conference. Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall of River Cottage was also among those attending the event.

The Farm Retail Awards are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honours within the sector, with winners selected by a panel including fellow farm shop operators, respected food critics and industry data insight consultants.

Richard Baldwyn, owner of Lower Clopton Farm Shop, said: “We are absolutely honoured and delighted to receive this award. Farming and running the farm shop is very much a family effort for us, and we are incredibly proud of what we have built here together. This recognition really belongs to our fantastic team who work so hard every day, and to our loyal customers who continue to support local farming and everything we do here at Lower Clopton.”

Lower Clopton Farm Shop continues to welcome visitors from across Warwickshire and beyond, offering fresh farm produce, locally sourced food and a chance to experience the connection between farming and the food on the plate.
